Description
Bowler hats are commonly worn by indigenous women in Bolivia; they are particularly associated with cholitas, the name for the usually Aymara women of La Paz and the highlands who wear traditional dress. Large numbers of traditional hat makers still exist and they are often seen for sale in shops and markets. Bolivian women are generally excellent at handicrafts too, it is common to see them knitting or engaged in similar activity to pass time between sales at their market stalls. On the wall are some campaign posters for Evo Morales Ayma, who was the Bolivian president from 2006-2019.
