Description
A southern viscacha (Lagidium viscacia) enjoys the early morning sun. Viscachas are closely related to the chinchillas and look like a cross between a large rabbit and a squirrel. They are often found in boulder fields as high as the snow line in the Andes; night temperatures are usually well below freezing making the morning sun even more welcome!

What a darling viscacha (looks like a fat bunnie to me)! So cute! Is he just a friendly little furry thing or a pet? V/F

Thank you for your comments Phyllis! Yes, they are very much like fat bunnies but with a long furry tail (like a squirrel but bigger) and wild (not kept for pets as far as I know; they are sometimes hunted for fur and food)
