Description
One of a large collection of images I have of Bolivia's Todos Santos / All Saints / Day of the Dead celebrations which take place on November 1st and 2nd. These small faces are called caretas (or caretitas), are made from plaster and appear in markets a couple of weeks before the festival. They are used for special bread figures called tantawawas (literally "bread babies") which are made for the occasion and are believed to represent the souls of the dead.
