Description
A black and white image of the El Tatio geysers, a major tourist attraction in the San Pedro de Atacama area of northern Chile and one of the world's highest geyser fields at an altitude of 4320m / 14,170ft. There are over 80 active geysers (as well as other volcanic features and landforms), making it the 3rd largest geyser field in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere. The clouds of steam are at their most dramatic around sunrise, when the air temperatures are well below freezing. If you look closely on the right hand side you can see a few people among the steam clouds to give an idea of scale.
