Description
The Quisi Quisini volcano is reflected in Lake Chungara on a stormy afternoon in the spectacular Lauca National Park in the far north of Chile. Quisi Quisini (often written K'isi K'isini) is a 5,536m / 18,163 ft high extinct volcano on the Bolivia border; the dramatic lighting and dark storm clouds really highlighted the colors of its rock formations. Chungara (4,517m / 14,820ft) is one of the highest lakes in South America, it covers approx 21.5 square km / 8.3 sq miles and supports a large variety of waterbirds. The Park is also part of the Lauca Biosphere Reserve, recognised by UNESCO in 1981.
