Description
Storm clouds, volcanos and islands reflected in water on the surface of the Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia in the rainy season. The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles. It sometimes floods (to a depth of only a few cm, the region is generally very arid) during the rainy season, turning it into a huge mirror reflecting the skies. This can also cause unusual atmospheric effects and mirages such as hills and distant mountains appearing to float on the horizon.
