Description
A twilight view of Bilbao's famous spider sculpture illuminated against the sky. The sculpture (called "Maman", the French for Mummy or Mother, in Spanish "Mama") was made in 1999 by the artist Louise Bourgeois. The original, made of steel, is in the Tate Modern in London. 6 bronze copies are on permanent display elsewhere; Bilbao's is one of these and located on the bank of the Ria de Bilbao next to the famous Guggenheim Museum (which can be seen in the background).
