Description
A winter twilight view of The Playhouse Theatre in Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar Square in central London. The theatre opened as the Royal Avenue Theatre on 11th March 1882 with 1200 seats. It was rebuilt between 1905 and 1907. The BBC used it as a recording studio for live performances from 1951 until the mid 1970s; after a spell of disuse it reopened as a theatre in 1987. It was refurbished during the covid pandemic and reopened as the Kit Kat Club in November 2021 as the home to a new revival of Cabaret.
