Description

One of a large collection of images from Bolivia's Todos Santos / Day of the Dead celebrations that I've built up over the years. The bread figures called tantawawas (literally "bread babies") are made for the occasion and are believed to represent the souls of the dead. They are a very important part of the mesas or altars that are built to receive the souls of loved ones, which it is believed return to visit the living on November 1st for 24 hours. The crosses and roses are painted onto sugar biscuits.
