Description
Reflections of the Tunupa volcano (5320m / 17,460ft) in a shallow saline lake in the Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia. The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles at an altitude of 3656m / 12,000ft. Tunupa (sometimes written Thunupa) dominates the northern shore of the salt flat. It has long been a sacred peak for people of the region and features in legends about the origins of the Salar (which locals often call the Salar de Tunupa rather than the Salar de Uyuni).
