Description
A young girl stops to pray at a large stone cross while taking her pet baby alpaca for a walk along a colonial street in Cusco, Peru. Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire, the stones at the base of the wall are from the Inca period. The Spanish built many of their houses and churches over the foundations of the original Inca buildings, or reused stones from them for construction as is the case here (the Incas didn't use mortar but fitted their stone blocks together perfectly without it).
