Description
The Welsh flag flies on a hilltop above the Rhondda Valley in South Wales, UK. The soft sunlight on a late winter's afternoon really brings out the colours and textures of the bracken and grass, a light snowfall lies in the foreground. The oldest recorded use of the dragon (in Welsh: Y Ddraig Goch "the red dragon") to symbolise Wales dates to around AD 829. It may well have older origins - it is popularly supposed to have been the battle standard of King Arthur and other ancient Celtic leaders.
