Description
A young fern starting to uncoil as it grows out of a mass of red sphagnum moss. Ferns are members of a group of vascular plants (Polypodiopsida or Polypodiophyta) that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers. This shot was taken the Andean cloud forests in Bolivia, the coiled shape and pale green of the fern contrasted beautifully with the red moss!
