Description
Mountain worship has been practised in the Andes for millennia, the mighty peaks were and still are believed to be important deities and homes of the gods by the indigenous people. With the Spanish conquest Catholic and native traditions blended together. The distant peaks in this shot are the Payachatas ("Twin"in the Aymara language) volcanos on the Bolivia - Chile border, individually Parinacota (L, 6342m / 20,805ft) and Pomerape (R, 6282 m / 20,610ft).
