Description
A young Ngabe-Bugle girl hanging out in the doorway of a fruit shop in Boquete in western Panama. The Ngabe-Bugle Comarca was established on March 7, 1997 and covers a large area of north west Panama. There are a total of 110,080 Ngabe and Bugle in Panama (2000 census), making them the largest indigenous group in Panama (approx 64% of the indigenous population). They are often collectively called the Guaymi though they are actually distinct peoples both ethnically and linguistically.
