Artist's Description

Traditional Kuna dugout sailing canoes made from the trunks of palm trees on the beach of one of the islands in the San Blas group. The San Blas Islands are made up of around 400 islands in the Caribbean off the coast of Panama (just visible in the distance). The islands belong to the Kuna Indians who live on some of them (inhabited islands are usually densely populated) and call them Kuna Yala / Guna Yala); the rest are uninhabited.
