A view across the saline Laguna Saquewa / Sakewa (also called Laguna Sacabaya) towards Sajama volcano (6542m / 21,465ft) in western Bolivia. Sajama is the country's highest peak and rises dramatically above the barren, empty altiplano landscape. Much of the region was once a huge prehistoric lake, of which the shallow lakes and salt flats that now dot the landscape are remnants.
