An American flag and a white rose next to a grave for Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces and is observed every year on the last Monday of May. Decorating graves with flags and other tributes is a common practice, and marches and ceremonial events are also held.
