Artist's Description
The Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles. The pure, clear, dry air at high altitude makes for superb colors and effects, well worth braving the cold for! The huge cacti found on islands such as Incahuasi Island in the middle of the Salar are Echinopsis atacamensis (pasacana subspecies), which grow in Bolivia and northern Argentina.
