Description
A tourist hikes across sand dunes in the Cordillera de Sal, a range of hills with many surreal rock formations not far from San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile. The Atacama Desert stretches for over 1000km between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes and is the world's driest and probably oldest desert. Geological research suggests the region has been continuously arid for many millions of years. I really like the sense of scale this tiny figure gives the image; we were exploring some ridges looking for locations to get shots of the rock formations with nearby volcanos when we looked down and saw him making his way across the sand dunes below.
