Description
A view along a large crevasse with some amazing ice formations in the upper glacier of Mt Huayna Potosi in Bolivia's Cordillera Real range. Huayna Potosi is probably the most popular climb in Bolivia and by mountaineering standards a relatively non technical 6000m peak. It's always fun to explore the glaciers even if you don't attempt the summit; there are plenty of beautiful and otherworldly ice formations, caves and crevasses. I thought the light, shadows and textures in the ice in this particular shot really lent itself to black and white. The peak in the background is Mt. Tikimani (5520m / 18,110ft). Although not as high as Huayna Potosi it is technically much more difficult and one of the most challenging climbs in Bolivia.
