Description
The Neptune Fountain in the Plaza de Canovas del Castillo in the Paseo del Prado was built from 1872-86 as part of the renovations made to central Madrid by King Carlos III. The fountain was designed by Ventura Rodriguez, who also designed the nearby Cibeles fountain in Plaza de Cibeles. The Paseo del Prado and its monuments and fountains were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2021.
