Description
The trunk of a tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) in deciduous forest in the Patapsco Valley State Park in Maryland. Tulip trees are native to eastern North America and are one of the largest native trees in that region. They can reach a height of 190ft / 60m and have a trunk up to 10ft / 3m in diameter. There are 2 species in the genus, the other is found in China.
