Description
A view of the famous Vizcaya Bridge over the Nervion River near Bilbao at sunset. The bridge was designed by Alberto Palacio, built in 1893 and is the world's oldest transporter bridge. It is 160m / 525ft long, the towers are 61m / 200ft high and the crossbeam 45m / 148ft high. The gondolas still carry cars and pedestrians across the river between Portugalete (L) and Getxo (R) today; UNESCO declared the bridge a World Heritage Site in 2006.
