Description
Araucaria or Monkey Puzzle trees (Araucaria araucana) growing on the shores of Lake Angelina in the Huerquehue National Park, Chile. Monkey puzzles are a spectacular member of the pine family and only found in the wild in Chile's Lake District region and neighbouring Argentina. They are Chile's national tree, the native Mapuche people who live in the area where it grows call it pehuen and consider it sacred.
