Description
A view of the art deco style Bank of America Building in Baltimore. At 155m (509ft) high and 37 stories, it was the tallest building south of New York in the United States when it was built in 1924 and is still the 2nd tallest building in Baltimore.
On the left is the distinctive needle-like William Donald Schaefer Building, the 4th tallest building in Baltimore. It was completed by Merritt Savings and Loan in 1986 (and originally known as Merritt Tower), has 37 floors and is 493ft / 150m high. It was designed by the firm of Taylor and Fisher, and completed in eighteen months at a cost of then US$3 million. Construction was done using Indiana sandstone and local brick over a steel frame. The William Donald Schaefer Building is 493ft / 150m high and the 4th tallest.
