Description
A view looking north towards Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore, with the Washington Monument and the spire of the gothic style United Methodist Church dominating the skyline. The Washington Monument was the first architectural monument planned to honor George Washington; the Mount Vernon neighborhood is named after Washington's home. The Monument is 178 feet / 54m high and was completed in 1829. The building on the right is the Peabody Institute and houses the Peabody Library.
