Description
Colourful quinoa plants growing on the altiplano under dramatic rainy season skies. Quinoa (sometimes spelled quinua, Chenopodium quinoa) was domesticated 3-4,000 years ago in the Andes and has long been an important part of the indigenous people's diet in that region. It has become increasingly popular in many countries as a health food and an important export crop as a result in especially Peru and Bolivia, where it can easily be grown in barren areas where agriculture is otherwise very difficult. The plants turn red, pink and yellow when the the crop is ready for harvesting, painting the barren landscapes with a wonderful array of colours.

Beautiful! I’ve never seen quinoa growing.
James Brunker replied:
Thank you Donna, I have quite a few more images if you're interested, it often turns a beautiful reddish pink when it's ready for harvesting
