Description
Sunlight breaking through dark storm clouds lights up brick houses packed onto a steep hillside in the suburbs of La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia. Rainy season in the Andes can be a very interesting time for photography. The mountain views for which the city is famous may be cloud covered but storms can often create dramatic cloud and lighting effects, such as here on the steep building-covered hillsides on the outskirts of the city. The cross on the hill is on the Jach'a Kollo ("Big Hill" in the Aymara language) mirador in the Tacagua district, one of many viewpoints in the upper parts of the city.

This is a magnificent picture James. I love the layers created by the buildings and the form that the overall composition creates.
