Description
Devotees carry the figure of the Virgen Dolorosa / Virgin of Sorrows through the streets of Cusco, Peru during the traditional Good Friday parades. The red colour on the base of the statue are petals of the nucchu flower. These flower in the area around Easter and due to the colour are said to represent the blood of Christ. Believers throw large quantities of them over the statues during the parades.
