Description
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596 m / 18,360 ft) is also known as Mt Shanzidou (the name of its highest peak), Mt Satseto (its name in the local Naxi language) and Yulong Xueshan (its Chinese name). This region is in the southern part of the Hengduan mountain system, which covers southeastern Tibet and extends into Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces in southwestern China. This view of the mountain also includes one of the historic pagodas in Jade Spring Park (Yu Quan Gong Yuan) in Dayan Old Town, part of the historic city of Lijiang in Yunnan Province. The Park was created in 1737 during the Qing dynasty; several of the pagodas in the Park are older and were moved there from their original locations. The Old Town of Lijiang was added to UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites in 1997.
