Description
Villarrica volcano (2840m / 9,320ft) is one of the most active volcanos in Chile, and easily accessible from the popular resort town of Pucon in the Lake District region. It is a straightforward and popular climb in the summer months when weather and activity permits. Minor eruptions are commonplace and a major event in 1971 expelled 30 million cubic metres of lava in a flow that stretched for 14km. It lies within the Villarrica National Park
