Description
A view looking up at part of Segovia's awesome Roman aqueduct against a blue sky. The aqueduct is the most famous landmark in Segovia (one of Spain's most historic cities) and among the most important Roman monuments in southwest Europe. It was built using granite blocks fitted together without mortar, the arched section is 958m long, 29m high at its highest point and has 166 arches. It is part of a system transported water 15km from the nearby Guadarrama mountains to the city, and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985.
