Description
The late afternoon sun bathes the small fishing port of Pisagua on Chile's Atacama Desert coast with a golden glow. Pisagua was an important nitrate exporting port in the 19th and first part of the 20th century. It is now mostly abandoned though it still supports a small fishing community. It also has a darker history - its isolated location means it has been used several times as a concentration camp, most notoriously by the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet.....
