Description
A Welsh dragon on top of a tower of Cardiff's City Hall building in South Wales silhouetted against a winter sunset. The oldest recorded use of the dragon (in Welsh: Y Ddraig Goch "the red dragon" is on the Welsh flag) to symbolise Wales dates to around AD 829. It may well have older origins - it is popularly supposed to have been the battle standard of King Arthur and other ancient Celtic leaders.
