Description
If there is sufficient spring rainfall the southern part of Chile's Atacama Desert (the world's driest) and coastal dunes can burst into flower. This phenomena is known locally as El Desierto Florido (The Flowering Desert) and occurs roughly twice a decade. Many of the species that flower are endemic to the region, this one is Solanum heterantherum, a member of the nightshade family.

We have some flowers like that in Arizona. They're poisonous. It's like a metaphor for false religion that may appear beautiful but is deadly because it leads you away from salvation.

Yes, theres a deadly nightshade plant in the same family in the UK too which is poisonous. Potato plants are also a member of the Solanums
