Description
Fishing boats reflect on the surface of the calm water in early morning in the harbour of the port of Iquique on the Atacama Desert coast of northern Chile. In the 19th century Iquique was one of the most important ports in South America, thanks to the nitrate mining boom in the nearby Atacama Desert. It enjoys a dramatic setting beneath towering desert cliffs and is still a major port, as well as a popular holiday resort and capital of Region I de Tarapaca.
