Description
The Homewood Museum is one of 2 of the Johns Hopkins University Museums. It is on the Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The Homewood Estate was long the family home of Maryland's Carroll family; this building was built in the early 1800s in the Georgian and Federal styles. Homewood House became the first Gilman School in 1897, and in 1902 the property was given to Johns Hopkins University. It was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1971. The building opened to the public as the Homewood Museum in 1987, and is furnished as it would have been in the 19th century.
