Description
Cornwall in south west England was an important tin mining region in the 19th century, at the time one of Europe's largest mining industries. Nowadays the remains of mine workings dot the countryside; this is one of many such ruins on Bodmin Moor, an upland moorland area in the west of the county. This ruined building was once the New Phoenix Mine engine house.
