Description
The pointed shapes of Mediterranean cypress trees (Cupressus sempervirens) contrast with the facade of an old apartment building in the suburbs of Viana do Castelo in northern Portugal. The tree is typically associated with Mediterranean regions and Italy in particular, and is also found in the Middle East. There are many cultivated versions, this cultivar with a fastigiate or pointed crown is very popular in parks and gardens worldwide.
