Description
Late afternoon clouds drift over the Payachatas ("twin" in the Aymara language) volcanos, which rise above the vast high altitude plains of the spectacular Lauca National Park in the far north of Chile. The Park is also part of the Lauca Biosphere Reserve, recognised by UNESCO in 1981.The peaks lie on the Bolivia border and are individually Pomerape (L, 6282m / 20,610ft) and Parinacota (R, 6342m / 20,805ft).
