Description
A detail of one of the ornate windows and painted tiles (azulejos) on the side wall of the Igreja do Carmo church in Porto, Portugal. One of Porto's most important churches, it was designed by the architect Jose Figueiredo Seixas with a combination of Baroque and Rococo styles and built between 1756 and 1768. The tiles which cover the side wall, one of the church's most famous features, are the work of the artist Silvestre Silvestri and were added in 1912. They show scenes from the foundation of the Carmelite Order and Mount Carmel.
