Description
The granite towers of Patagonia can be awe inspiring. Mt Fitzroy (3405m / 11,170ft) dominates the surrounding region like few mountains I have come across in the Andes, small wonder the indigenous peoples of the region saw it as a deity. It is one of the main attractions of the Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina (which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981) and towers over the nearby village of El Chalten, which nearly all tourists use as a base for visiting the area.
