Description
The Red Lion in the village of Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells, Kent southeast England is said to be the oldest licensed publice house in Kent. It was first licensed in 1415 but was probably trading before this date. It was situated on what was then the main London to Brighton coaching road. The upper floor is covered the the vertical / hanging tiling that is typical of the Weald region, the ground floor walls were built using the local yellow Wealden sandstone.
