Description
Bolivia's Oruro Carnival is one of the most famous festivals in South America. It was originally declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2001 and added to UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. The Diablada is probably Bolivia's most famous dance and is particularly associated with Oruro Carnival. It symbolises the battle between good and evil; dance groups feature hundreds of devils in spectacular masks and costumes. China Supay is the name of the female devils.
