Description
A visitor explores the ruins of Bayham Abbey on the border of Kent and East Sussex between Tunbridge Wells and Lamberhurst in southeast England. The abbey was founded in the early 13th century by Premonstratensian monks and suppressed by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525 to fund two new colleges he planned to build. Most of the abbey was built using the distinctive local yellow Wealden sandstone typical of this part of the UK; many churches and historic buildings in the area are made of it.
