Description
A close up studio shot of a Christmas cactus or Thanksgiving cactus, popular house plants in the northern hemisphere that are so named because of the times of year around which they flower. Most of these houseplants are cultivars of the Schlumbergera genus of cacti, a small genus (with 6 to 9 species) which are found in the wild in the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil. The first cultivars were produced in the early 19th century; since the 1950s many more have been produced and there are now hundreds of variations.
